Go With the Flow

April 9, 2018

While walking along a riverbank at some rapids, an old man slipped on a wet rock near the edge and fell in. Onlookers watched in horror as he was swept toward and then over a high waterfall. However, there was great joy when he emerged bruised but otherwise unharmed downstream. “How did you manage to survive?” asked one man in the crowd that gathered round. The old man said, “Instead of trying to make the water accommodate me, I accommodated myself to it. Instead of fighting it, I just relaxed into the swirl and went along with the flow. I worked with the force of the water instead of against it. That is how I survived.”
